Catch us on the other side

If you have been using Google Reader to keep up with your favorite blogs, you received noticed a LONG time ago that it was going away. You probably thought, “Oh, I have plenty of time.”

Not anymore! On Monday (in 2 days!), Google Reader will be no more. If you’ve been using it to read my blog posts, start following me by email or Bloglovin’. Don’t know what Bloglovin’ is? I’ve got you covered!

Bloglovin’ is a fun, new way to keep up with your favorite blogs. Here’s what you need to know about switching:

1. It’s easy, I swear!

The process to set up your account is quick and simple. Check out my detailed instructions below to guide you through the process step-by-step!

2. You can import your blogs from Google Reader with the click of a button.

Yup, no manual adding blogs for you! Bloglovin’ will take care of it for you, easy peasy. See my guide below for more info.

3. There’s an app for that.

Prefer to read blogs on your mobile device? No problem – Bloglovin’ has you covered! Download the free app for access to your favorite blogs when you’re on the go.

4. Organize your blogs.

I’ve divided up my blogs into a couple different categories: cookie blogs, baking blogs, general cooking blogs, home improvement blogs, funny blogs, etc. You can create your own categories, so the possibilities are endless!

5. If you’re a blogger – claim your blog easily AND get more pageviews!

You can claim your blog by adding in a verifying link to the top of a post. From there, customize your profile and more! PLUS, and this is a biggie, if a reader decides to read your entire post (rather than just an excerpt), they click over to your blog – resulting in additional pageviews!

Setting up an account with Bloglovin’ (detailed, step-by-step, no fail instructions!)

A little help from a friend

I was busy hooking on the challenge rug when Cooper (one of our dogs) started to whine...........he was lacking attention..or so he thought. I offered him a "small" spot beside me in my chair but he spied a " better" location!
Yes, right on top of my frame. It made it a little hard to work!
Needless to say, he had to go!
I'm moving right a long on my rug.....how about you?

Dyeing

It was a warm day yesterday so I thought I would dye outside in the garage with the burner and lp tank. I got everything all set up and began the process.

Well, there was absolutely no air movement in the garage (it was all outside) and I nearly got eaten alive by flies!

So this morning I thought I would try again only outside closer to the house. I got everything all outside and fired up and it began to storm. Needless to say the flame had a hard time staying lite.

I was trying to keep the house cool but am about to say forget it.  As much as I was trying to keep the house cool I think I let all the flies inside! Not sure it was my best decision.

Think I will stick to my gas stove and air conditioning. :)

Challenge Rug

July is quickly approaching.

I know some of you have completed your challenge rugs already.
I am just "a little" behind. ;) thought I would show you a sneak peak.......actually there isn't a lot done.

Someone told me the rug will "speak" to me.......it better be shouting shortly!

Happy Hooking!

More rain........

Just a couple of pictures to show you the rain we got. 1.4 inches in the early morning and then another inch that evening.

The sump pump kicked in again but didn't run too long. Thank goodness!

More rain on Saturday and Sunday. We just got the carpet reinstalled on Tuesday......perhaps I should have waited? :/

New patterns

Here is the rabbit pattern. Mom used wool for this one and she stuffed it with dryer lint. The ears are a little stiff but I think he is just "alert". :)

Pattern retails for $9.00

Progress on the garage

Here is the garage so far. Lots of pounding going on!
This will be a small porch on the front of the house.

Front of the garage

Inside the garage. To the right will be bathroom. To the left will be mom's "extra" room, space or whatever you want to call it. No hole in the wall yet. That's to come! Can't wait to see what size the hole will be. (Yes, just a little sarcasm).

A look from the back side.
Despite all of the rain we have had (another inch and 4 tenths early this morning) things are progressing right a long.

Mother always said eat your fruits and vegetables........not these!

I have been working with some new patterns that we got in the shop.  BlackBerry Primitives came out with a line of patterns by Kay Cloud. I believe we have 7-9 new patterns.

Above is the pineapple. You can either use the hand-dyed velvet or wool.  I've done both and they look great.

Pears......I've only had time to make one of these. I will be doing more in between the dye batches today.  There are 3 sizes of the pear. Again, you can use wool or velvet or even silk.

Did I mention I stuffed all of them with sawdust?

Dogs, owls, gourds, plums persimmons, strawberries and birds......just to name a few! Mom is working on the dog today. I will show pics when she is done.

Patterns retail for $9.00

Couple of finishes

Good Friday to all of you. I've somewhat put my studio back together and have really had the urge to sit at my sewing machine. It brings such peace.......usually. ;)

This first pincushion has been completed for awhile and then got lost in the shuffle of graduation and the flooding. I assembled it last night. I used crushed walnuts and boy do they work slick. I'm trying to decide if I want to put some trim around it. We have some exciting new things coming to the shop.

This little guy I stitched in the car a loong time ago. He was fun and easy.
I filled him with lizard litter. It works great too but I like the crushed walnuts just a little better.

Have a great weekend everyone!
