Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Trust everyone enjoyed the holidays and got to spend some quality time with family.
Perhaps got those last minute gifts finished up and under the tree just in time?
I know I had one last minute gift.

Right before we had our family Christmas we made a quick trip to Florida for a graduation ceremony.

Our oldest, Jenny graduated from University of West Florida in December.
She graduated with a degree in Biology and will begin her Masters program this spring. Jenny will continue as a graduate assistant with the volleyball team.

The letter "J" was the Christmas letter this year.
Mom's table looked stunning as usual.
"Joy" was the centerpiece and added a beautiful sentiment to the dinner table.

As you can see we all had a box of "Jello" at our place along with some "juniper" and "jingle" bells.

Mom found this wonderful "jean jumper" at Goodwill.  She was extremely proud of herself.
I believe the scarecrow will be wearing it when the snow is gone!

I can't remember how much "jangle" was in the "jar" but I know that I didn't win the amount.

As you can see we have a pretty good time with the alphabet.
Next year is the letter "K".
I think it will be more of a challenge.

I had mom's name and I made her a "jigsaw" puzzle ball out of "jet" black velvet.  I finished the day before but it looked awesome.  I'll try and get a picture later.

Enjoy your families and happy hooking everyone!

Memories in the Making

Many of you have watched my children grow up so I wanted to share these with you.

Sam and Joe after the all state concert. Sam sang in the chorus and Joe played the bass trombone in the orchestra.

We were lucky enough to spend the Thanksgiving holiday in Orange Beach, Alabama.
We all needed time to "forget" life for a few days and just be a family.

I used to think I had a "normal" family until I started looking at these photos.
Seems they aren't "normal" after all! ;)

Natalie's cheer squad is competing for the first time in February.
She thought she could teach her "strong" brothers how to do the lifts so she could practice.
Turns out it wasn't as easy as they thought.

We had some good laughs and it was wonderful to be together as a family!

Thanks, for letting me share.

And the winner is.....................

Thank you to all who shopped our Customer Appreciation sale.  If you stopped by or read the email you will know that we had a couple of give-aways.

I should have taken a picture of the jar that contained the noodles.  The winner of the noodles and mat to go with it was Elsie Ulland.

Give-away #2 was a skillet full of 1/16's and a soy candle. Skillet was a little too heavy to ship. :)

The winner of that was Cindy DeBlick!

Prizes have already been shipped and I must say the winners were thrilled.

CLOSED Saturday

As you all know we had the musical Annie last weekend and it was wonderful.
The students got to perform to over 450 people each night of the 3 performances.
We are so lucky to have a community that supports our students.

Just a couple of shots from the musical.

Sam was chosen as a member of the All-State Chorus and we are very proud of him. A very small percentage of students make it in and it is a big honor.
Saturday is the concert and we are taking the day to hear the concert put on by the All-State band, chorus, and symphony!
We apologize if we inconveinced you but I wouldn't miss this for the world!

A little humor for the day!

As most of you know I keep busy with my kid's activities.
Sam is a senior this year and he is very busy himself.
This weekend is the musical "Annie" that the high school chorus is putting on.
I have sewn 38 smocks and made too many alterations to count.
This week I have spent every night at the auditorium helping and getting the kids in their costumes at the appropriate times. The evenings have been late to say the least.

I also took the head-shots for the programs and my son Sam put the photos on a flash drive for the Superintendent's secretary.

The other morning I was laying in bed checking my emails with one eye opened.  I saw I had received an email from Judy, the secretary, saying she was missing some photos and could I please get them to her so she could finish the programs.

I promptly replied to her email and crawled out of bed.
I stopped in her office and visited with her and we both asked if we had received each other's the emails.  Yes, indeed we did.

I sent the photos as soon as I got to the shop.
Upon checking my emails later that morning I saw Judy had sent me yet another email.
The email read, "I wish I had read your email prior to seeing you this morning.  I would have given you some "crap" about it.  Please re-read the email you sent me".
Well, I re-read the email and here is what I actually sent her.

I did not proof the email when I sent it nor was I wearing my glasses!!
2 very important things when sending out emails!!
Did you know that the I and O are right beside each other on the keyboard?
 I now know!!
We all had a good laugh at MY expense!

Happy Friday Everyone!

New Arrival

BeeLine's Newest Addition.
Our sample arrived Tuesday.
Wow, is all I can say.
It is light weight and really does fit in a suitcase!
The frame is 12" and rotates 360.  You can also adjust the height and level of the frame.
I took some pictures so you could tell the difference between the 14" Orbital and the new 12" travel size.

This is how it came out of the box.

I put my 14" laptop next to it so you could grasp the size when it's folded down.

Set up and ready to go!

I put the 2 frames side-by-side so you might be able to tell the difference.  The heights are different only because I didn't want to mess with mom's frame. :)
I used my camera phone so the pictures aren't the greatest.
Let us know if you are interested.

Mom is working on this rug.  She is slowly but surely getting there.  Mom struggled a little with the flower color but believe she is good to go for now.

Still here

Well, I haven't done a very good job at blogging the last 2 weeks.  My intentions are good. I have had a lot of unexpected things pop up and it's all good.

I spent 4 days hooking on 2 mats that I will show in a later post.  I was so excited as I was working on both every day but then life just seemed to happen.

Here is a short recap:

1.  Sam was selected as part of the All-State Honor Choir (we are so proud of his hard work)
2. Sinus infection for me that ended up in the dr.'s office.
3. Flew to Florida on Tuesday and returned on Thursday to see oldest daughter.
4. Annie musical: In charge of costumes (40 smocks to make), alterations, head shots and helping Sam learn his lines (Daddy Warbucks) I think I could be his understudy. ;)
5. Cross Country team qualified for State Meet and they placed 7th in Class 2A

6. Sam was sworn in as a member of the Iowa Air Guard in Sioux City, Iowa. Now both boys are enlisted and I am praying for peace!

Yes, they are all wonderful things.

Thought I would share my studio space.
Yep, it's a mess.  Too many irons in the fire!

I hope to have a more productive post later this week!

Happy Hooking!

Merry Christmas?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Not ready for the holidays just yet?
I finished this off the other day.
It's quick and can be done in a variety of ways.
"Noel" retails for $38.00

This rug is the 2nd project that my Aunt Mary has hooked.
She drove 6 hrs to get another project so she is ready for the winter months.
It is hooked to perfection and was beautifully finished.
Great job Aunt Mary and glad we have added another "hooker" to the family. :)

Good Day!

What a few days we have had here.
The weather is rainy, windy and cool.
I guess that means that winter is around the corner for us?

Mom and I were in Booneville, Missouri over the weekend vending at a show there.  I didn't get an opportunity to take pictures. We had a great time as usual and connect up with some old friends.
 This trip always inspires me.

This picture I got quick before the show started.  An Amish man was asked to bring baskets to sell at the show.  The horses were tied up in the back the entire day.

The "Chicken Dance" we loved how this turned out.  Such a happy rug and we really like how she outlined the entire rug.  Seems like it automatically ages it.

"Garden Row" hooked by the same lady.  I do believe she did 1 sheep a day.  This one isn't totally completed but I wanted to share anyway.
It's always such a pleasure to see how everyone uses their creativity.

Last but not least.
We have had numerous customers ask us for shirts/sweatshirts.
So.......we finally bit the bullet and put some shirts together.

We have sweatshirts and short sleeved t-shirts.
We have small through x-large.
We chose a gold, red and blue for our colors and the shirts/sweatshirts are Authentic Pigment Dyed to give the faded look.

Sweatshirts are $49.00 and T-Shirts are $18.50

We took a stab in the dark for the sizes.  If you are interested in a size that we do not carry please let us know as I imagine we will be placing another order in the future.

Happy Hooking!

Another weekend recap....

Mom and Dad were off to Omaha, Nebraska to vend at a show there and I was in Storm Lake, Iowa.
My 2nd daughter Natalie was part of the Homecoming Court at Buena Vista College where she is currently a senior majoring in Biology.

We had a fun filled weekend and even enjoyed the football game despite the fact it was a tad chilly!  Natalie is also a cheerleader so we were able to watch her cheer.

I did have a hooking finish the night before Mom left for the show.
 It's called "Emma's Garden"
I used many techniques in the rug and I can say it's one of my favorites.
There is a side of me that "loves" bright colors. :)

My job is to get it steamed and ready to whip.
What a fun rug to work on.
Natalie has already called "dibbs"

Recap of the weekend

Good Afternoon everyone!
Yes, Tuesday came and went and now it's Thursday.
It's been busy inside and outside the shop these days.

Last week was homecoming and my son Sam was one of the king candidates.

Mom and I left at 4:30 a.m. for Newton, Iowa to vend at the Hook-In there.  Yes, some say we are crazy (they might be right) ;) but we didn't want to miss the homecoming activities.

We had a great time as usual and it is always good to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

Here are a few pictures from the rug show:

Our booth!

Hope you all enjoyed the pictures and have a great weekend!

Mom is on her way to Omaha to vend at a show there.  Dad is taking my spot as I will be attending homecoming festivities at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.

Happy Hooking!
