Fruit Flies

A few weeks ago I took one daughter to visit another daughter so they could see each other. We got to visit Natalie's lab where she has been working on a couple biology projects.

Fruit Flies.........I now know more about them then I ever wanted to! We got to see one under the microscope. Did you know they have red eyes?

Natalie and her partner had to sex the flies (guess you can tell the difference) and then wait for them to mate! They spent a couple nights in the lab waiting for the "virgins" to hatch......because they are only virgins for 6 hours. Hmmm......imagine that! :)
