It's Moved!

As Mom and I were heading to Newton, Iowa to vend at a Hook-In the crane guy (AKA my youngest brother Grant) showed up.
By 8:00 a.m. the shed was moved and put in place.................we had just finished setting our booth up.

My husband Dave took these photos with his phone and I am so proud of myself that I actually got them off my phone and onto this blog without an ounce of trouble!!

I do believe that this building is going to house Dad's dust collection system near the garage.

Empty space now where the new garage will go.  First the old cement will come up and then the dirt will be brought in so it can sit and settle all winter long.  I am very excited for Mom and Dad to have their new garage.  They have sacrificed greatly since we moved into the old garage.
Thanks Dad and Mom!

Construction Begins

The process has begun to move this little shed.  Dad is doing all the work himself.
I believe that he is getting the building so it is sturdy for the move.

I think the plan is to move this building over by the garage.  It's going to house his dust collection system for the woodworking shop.........I think?

The windows are out and the tree has been cut down.

When the crane guy comes (my brother Grant) I hope to be around to take some pictures.
Well, I wasn't around when the crane guy came but my husband was.  The pictures are on his phone so as soon as I can figure how to get them off I will post those too.

Fun Pillow

I fell in love with this pillow at the county fair this year.  I know the girl who made it and she always does wonderful work.
She made this pillow after one that she saw at her grandmother's house.  There is smocking involved with the gray wool fabric and I am not sure how she did the purple flower in the middle.  I do know that it was cut by hand.
The purple wool came from our shop and is an as-is fabric.  The buttons are antique and you have two options for displaying the pillow.

I believe that her mother said that part of the pattern came from either McCalls or Simplicity patterns.  It came from Hobby Lobby.

Doesn't it just look vintage?

Fair Time

4-H is always about having fun.  This year our club participated in "Share The Fun".  They performed a routine to California Girls by the Beach Boys and YES that's my son (daughter) in the middle.
He and his buddies were the "Western" girls.

Yes, a couple rubber balls and my bra can work wonders!!  You should have seen his legs.............not bad for a guy.  What a fun time they had!

Poultry Superintendents.........sounds prestigious.  Note how far I am holding that chicken from myself!!  The broilers tend to shoot out the back end...............learned the hard way. :)

Sam's pen of three pullets.  He got blue ribbons.

Drew and his pen of 3.  He got blues too.
This is Drew's last fair as next year he will be at basic training for the Air Guard.

Always a fun time but am glad when it's over. :)

New Wools

Three new wools arrived last week.  They are amazing and look like they have been hand dyed.
The brown is delicious and old looking.  I can't wait to use it.
The reds do look hand dyed but are not.  One is a little bit paler.  Both would be great for you stash.

New Books

The latest issue of A Primitive Place magazine is here.  It retails for $9.95

The Help

Natalie was responsible for the 3 pounds of bacon frying that went on and for helping with registration!
Thanks Nat. :)

Drew was responsible for registration, food and photos!
Great job Drew.  How will we do it without you next year?

Sam is the parking, garbage and food guy!  You did great Sam.
Hope you don't have plans next year! :)

Then there is DAD!  What can I say.....................he is in charge of everything!  Flower beds, lawn mowing, clothes lines, tables, chairs and basically keeping mom in line. :)
Seriously, neither mom or I could do this without Dad.
Thanks again Dad and we love you!
